Religious Education

Vision - To develop knowledge and respect for the diverse cultures and religions in our society

INTENT - We want our children to have the opportunity to begin to explore and understand different world religions and beliefs and think about how they compare with their own.

IMPLEMENTATION - Our RE work is taught through direct teaching in weekly RE lessons planned using the Agreed Syllabus for Religious Education in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire (2018-2022). Lessons include cross-curricular activities planned to meet the needs of all children. In the EYFS, children will explore different cultures, talk about their own beliefs and begin to think about the beliefs of others. In addition to planned lessons, KS1 will have opportunities to visit religious settings and hear from representatives from different faiths.

IMPACT - By the end of KS1, children are expected to have a broad understanding of Christianity and some other major religions using key vocabulary and asking appropriate questions.
