Science At Queen's Drive

Vision

To encourage curiosity, awe and wonder about the world around them

INTENT -Through Science we recognise the key skills of investigation, observation, measurement and research that children need to learn. We want children to build these skills and knowledge of the world around them through our Science teaching.

IMPLEMENTATION

Science work is taught using the National Curriculum 2014 and covers the different Science areas such as Materials, Animals, Plants. This builds on from early knowledge and understanding of the world taught in Early years. In addition to building knowledge, multiple investigations or experiments are planned each half-term to either support the topic or as a stand-alone lesson to develop investigational skills.

IMPACT

By the end of KS1 the children are expected to have a good knowledge of 3 scientific areas; everyday materials, animals including humans and plants as well as understanding of seasonal change and working scientifically.
